Scott Pelley, a “60 -minute” correspondent, spoke of President Donald Trump’s demand against CBS and his parent company on Saturday, arguing that an agreement would be “very harmful”.
“Well, it would be very detrimental to CBS, for Paramount, for the reputation of these companies,” Pelley said during a conversation with Anderson Cooper de CNN Saturday, who asked how harmful and a potential apology for the network.
Trump filed a lawsuit against the Paramount Global Company, CBS News, during a “60 -minute” interview with former President Kamala Harris in October 2024.
Fox News Digital confirmed that Trump rejected $ 15 million to resolve his demand, according to a source known to the matter, as the President’s legal team also demands at least $ 25 million and an apology from CBS News.
Cooper, who is also a “60 -minute” correspondent, also asked Pelley about the former producer of the show Bill Owens who resigned in the program in April.
“Bill’s decision to give up may not have been a decision for him because he was always the first person to defend independence from the ’60 minutes.” Bill did not work for Paramount.
Pelley also said he wanted CBS News public support, but added that his work continued to do it in the program.
“You really wish the company to be behind 100%, right? You really want the highest levels of the company to come out publicly and say ’60 minutes’, for example, it is a crown jewel of North American journalism, and we are behind 100%. I have not heard history this way. None of this has happened.

The “60 -minute” correspondent recently went viral to call Trump during a start address.
“At this moment, this moment, this morning, our sacred rule of law is under attack. Journalism is under attack. Universities are under attack. Freedom is under attack,” Pelley said during his starting speech at Wake Forest University. “And the insidious fear is to get through our schools, our businesses, our homes and our private thoughts, the fear of speaking in America. If our government is, in Lincoln’s phrase,” of people, people, people, “why are we afraid to speak?”
Pelley went to the statements during an interview with the CNN and told Cooper that he felt “strongly” that he had to say.
“I do not mean the President or the White House or the Administration. But I was talking about actions that have been taken by the Government in recent months. But there was a bit of hysteria among some about this speech, and I just ask you, what does it say about our country when there is a hysteria about a discourse that is about freedom of expression?” CBS correspondent added.
